10. Louise Slaughter has reason to be afraid of them.
I hope she isn't, but if anyone has a right to be, it's her. She's had bricks thrown through her windows in DC and Rochester, and a message was left on her answering machine threatening to assassinate her children because of her vote on HCR. As if anyone doubted how Slaughter was going to vote! I mean these wingers are the ones who blow up or fly planes into federal buildings when things don't go their way. They make up paranoid fairy tales to justify taking violent action against government agents, claiming it's patriotism, of all things, and not just whiney baby scared-of-everything selfishness, that's driving them.

12. Interesting take.
I don't think the man who flew the plane into the IRS building was a right winger. Timothy McVeigh's motivation certainly wasn't that things didn't go his way.

I guess Slaughter's tormentors can be excused from being right wingers as well?

5. It's the guns
it's the bricks, it's the spit and the fact that they have representatives in Congress egging them on - in addition to a former VP candidate who is incapable of being subtle.

These idiots talk about "revolution" like it's some dumb assed video game. They really need to do some reading. do they really really want to go there over f*cking HEALTH CARE???

9. The only people who are scared of them
is the Democratic Party. I generally find them to be cowards, just very loud cowards who should be rolled over until they learn to behave themselves. But Democrats bend over backwards to try to appease them, as if they were ineffective parents of a bunch of spoiled, bratty, temper-throwing children. Everyone knows that the best way to treat spoiled brats is NOT to give into them. Why should they stop screaming and writhing on the floor when it works so well?

11. Loud cowards with guns.
And bricks. And no impulse control. And susceptibility to being egged on by demagogues to commit violence.

16. Think about Repubs ability to stick together and the Dems tendency to splinter
There truly are very big differences in the DNA structure.

Talking partially out my arse... but

Join a Fraternity/Sorority - more likely to be a Republican
Member of a large mega church - much more likely to be a Republican
Independent thinker - more likely to be Liberal/Democrat

It has been discussed numerous times in regard to RW radio. Rush, Levin, Beck, Hannity, are all purveyors of hate and misinformation, and annoying as hell.

On the left we tend to be a bit more reserved in our support. If I am driving and Thom Hartmann is on, then I tend to listen. Wide variety of topics, very seldom the same topic. Malloy, I can agree with him 100% on some issues but when he get's pissed off and focuses on religion the interest is lost, and Randy had so many meltdowns (her total meltdowns a month is likely equal to the Rush in a couple of days) that I tune her off immediately. Even though on most issues I agree with all of them, I don't want to hear someone screaming someone down, while Repubs get off on the validation of hate.

So to your point, they are scary in groups, because they have the group think mentality along with safety in numbers. They need to be careful, their biggest advantage is to NOT unite the Democrats and liberals. DU is a lovefest for the last couple of days because everyone likes winning and Democrats basically united behind the plan. One group supported the plan, and those against it hated the Republicans more and took joy watching them meltdown.

Pissing people off is a lose/lose for them, because if they keep up the hatred it will reach a boiling point, and three free thinking liberals will kick the shit out of six who need safety in numbers.
