Have you noticed this about tea-baggers...
They are only libertarian and anti-govt. when Democrats are in charge.

When a Republican is President they love the govt. and attack anyone who opposes authoritarian policies.

They don't care about freedom, they just want control of the country.

We should ask these people what they think of the Patriot act and they'd say it was the best thing Bush did.

2. Yeah. They really have no coherent, underlying ideas.
They are simply enraged when anyone tells them they are wrong.

3. Excellent points
The teabagger personality seems to go for low-IQ, authoritarian figures who see the world in black and white (black being the bad guys and white the good guys). They seem to like authority figures who wage war and ridicule "outsiders," who are anyone not in their group.

8. You got it exactly right. They are defective, really, mentally. Most of the time they are
alcoholics, or drug users, or people who have real problems with interpersonal relationships or with keeping a job. They are the outcasts of society usually. At least that's what I've seen.

7. I was surprised (ok not really) when after Obama was elected...
So many self-identified republicans suddenly started calling themselves "libertarian" once Bush was gone.

9.  "We should ask these people what they think of the Patriot act"
and they'd say it was the best thing Bush did...

Yup they would, and Obama and the Dems decided to keep it. So what does that make us? Just as blind and stupid as they are.

Everything in your post could also be said about liberals. DU hated the government when Bush was in charge. We stood together in solidarity against the wars. Now I read how Obama is the greatest President in history and part of the reason is.. HE'S GOT A PLAN! That's right some DU'er listed today as one of Obama's greatest accomplishments the fact that HE HAS A PLAN in Afghanistan.

12. no I don't think it could be applied to progressives...
Most of the progressives I've seen on here have expressed disappointment in some of the decisions Obama has made. Obama is a bad example though because he's only been in for a year and dealing with an 8 year long move towards a cliff.

A better example to use is with LBJ and Vietnam, progressives vehemently protested him despite the fact he was a very liberal Democrat. These tea baggers wouldn't do that to a conservative.

15. "These tea baggers wouldn't do that to a conservative."
Not only would the tea baggers do it, their leaders have done it as well. David Frum, serious republican asshole just got his walking papers for actually admitting that the Repukes got their ass handed to them on HCR. The baggers castigate anyone with a different opinion. Just like DU'ers. And if you don't believe it then you obviously haven't been criticizing Obama much.

I have expressed much disappointment with Obama as any good liberal would. There hasn't been a single time where I have spoken out against Obama policy and not had the 3 major talking points thrown at me. I'm a hater, I didn't get my pony and I am making the perfect the enemy of the good. I was actually called a hater when I said Obama was wrong to reauthorize the Patriot Act. That was when I knew that DU was not about right or wrong it was about Democrat vs Republican. Which is fine for those who think in black and white. I live in a mind where I'm not afforded that luxury.

16. True unlike the pro war assholes that worshipped Nixon and his ideals of stopping the VN war was to
start a war in Cambodia. The anti war protesters took issue with LBJ and called him out. That really is the difference between us and them, we do call our people to task for bone headed moves where as they just cheer lead their assholes on blindly.
