The story is that she wanted a one year contract. They wanted to lock her into a three year contract.
It sounds like they've been enjoying the ratings she increased.

that people watch the View not for the personalities involved, but for the interviews and information. In their eyes, everyone and anyone (except for Barbara Walters who's half-owner of the show) is expendable and easily forgotten.
Interesting to see who they replace Ro with and how the ratings do after she's gone.
