Palin family outcast to sell rival view of Alaska with new TV series

Thanks to Sarah Palin’s estranged extended family, America may be treated to not one but two new television series on Alaska’s natural splendour — and its jet-fuelled snowmobiles.

Less than a week after the announcement of an eight-part series to be fronted by Mrs Palin on the state she used to govern, the father of her grandchild has been touring Los Angeles pitching his own series to network executives.

Mr Johnston was introduced to America in 2008 as the boyfriend of Mrs Palin’s oldest daughter, Bristol. She was five months' pregnant; he was looking forward to getting married and being a father, according to Republican Party sources. The pair split up in December that year, since when Mr Johnston has had a lucrative career as a celebrity-for-hire who can be relied upon for vindictive insider gossip on the Palin family.

His latest venture, provisionally entitled Levi Johnston’s Final Frontier, was reportedly in the works before Mrs Palin swept into Hollywood to sell her Alaska series this month, but his producer admitted yesterday that their plan was now to ride the wave of interest created by Mr Johnston’s ex-future mother-in-law.
