Senator Hatch: Goodwin liu "a controversial nominee" because his views "appear to be pretty liberal"
“I’m going to talk about what Justice Roberts said in terms of judges being umpires, instead of pitchers and batters. Their job is to umpire, not interfere with the game,” Hatch told reporters Monday, before addressing a crowd of about 250 inside the Montante Cultural Center.

The six-term senator said the more liberal of Obama’s appointees would, naturally, receive the most scrutiny from Senate Republicans.

For instance, Hatch said, University of California, Berkley, Law School “Professor Goodwin Liu will be a controversial nominee because of some of his pronouncements and some of his approaches to the law, which appear to be pretty liberal.”

“It’s OK to be liberal and be a judge. Where it’s not OK is where you start to put your own policy preferences into law rather than abide by the written law,” Hatch added.

Reasoning: Liberal views = a tendency to ignore the law and insert your preferences. What evidence is there that Liu will ignore the law? Because he is liberal of course!

Now to demonstrate how fallacious that thinking is let me insert some words...

Reasoning: Preference for ice cream = a tendency to rob small children at knife point to obtain their ice cream cones. How do we know he will steal ice cream from small children? Because he likes to eat ice cream! Brilliant logic!

1. Just a liberal?
When was the last time you have heard a Republican politician call somebody a liberal instead of a socialist or a commie?

2. I guess Orrin the Mormon Moron isn't familiar with Opie Roberts all too brief judicial career.
He sided in favor of corporatism every. fucking. time.

Guess that kind of bias is fine with Hatch?
