Yet another thread about offshore drilling
Fuck that shit, I like this beach too much:

So, do me a favor, next time you have to go somewhere, use one of these:

If one of those is unavailable, just walk.

Yes, I realize that it's just about impossible for anyone to ride a bike to the Outer Banks. Nobody's perfect. Just do what what you can.

Ok?

1. Yep. Capt. Hilts walks for groceries and takes the Metro. Her car goes to
Balt., Va. Beach and Toronto. She rode her bike the 12 miles to Capitol Hill from Bethesda for two years.

Her car looks very much like this:

3. I'm a lousy, but dedicated cyclist. Toronto's easier for biking than DC, but
the ride from Bethesda/Chevy Chase to the Hill was on the Crescent trail, then turn up the Mall just after the Kennedy Centre and you're there without having to ride on the road. But going up Capitol Hill and then, on the way back, the slow hill back to Bethesda damn near killed me every time. I never got good at it.

4. Bike trails, what an alien concept in most of this great land.
Sigh.

Is Toronto really easier in February?

Brrrrrrrrr

is drier than here in DC, so it is manageable to bike in on many days.

And the city is, for the most part, laid out like a grid and it has a good amount of one-way streets. It's also pretty flat with a slight grade up from the lake.

And streetcars follow predictable paths!
