A prediction about corporate campaign contributions (C3):
The Democrats will get the lion's share of "People United" funding in the foreseeabe future.

With the political balance as it is, the Blue Dogs control all the action, as we saw in the HCR debacle. There is no point in buying Republicans; they're already bought and have nowhere else to go. Besides, the points on which they differ with the Blue Dogs--e.g. gays, guns & God, are of no interest to the corporate vampires. They have no inherent interest in Republicans. Therefore the smart C3 funds will focus on buying "middle-of-the-road, centrist" (i.e. corporate-friendly) Democrats who will prove to be the most effective barrier against inconvenient legislation.

The next 20 years will be marked by policies of corporate pragmatism.

It's OK to cover more people with health insurance, as long as that coverage is paid for by the government, and thedeductibles and copays are sufficient to make sure that few people can actually use it.

It's OK for gas mileage to go up a little. Oil is getting scarcer, so corporate profits are guaranteed.

It's OK to withdraw some forces from Iraq; the oil fields are secured, and we have fresh blood in sight: Afghanistan, Iran, oil and mineral-rich Africa and Latin America....

And of course there will be global warming, mass starvation, perhaps epidemics. But these things are not bad. The rich no longer need the labor of the masses. They will be just fine living in their bubbles and riding out the Great Depopulation--which will, incidentally, take also care of the China and India problems as a side benefit.

2. It can happen
if the people don't wake up.

I don't have a problem with the Democrats getting the funding, provided these corporatists are promptly voted out of office.

I remember the days after the ruling there was all this talk about passing something in Congress to limit the funding and all this crap. All talk.....no action.

3. All that talk dried up when they figured out
how to get the nugget-laying goose to hang its ass over their nest.
