Oh My! Stanford's knighthood revoked
http://www.jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20100405/lead/lead4.html
<snip>
Antigua's Governor General Dame Louise Lake-Tack has signed the order revoking the knighthood of alleged fraudster R. Allen Stanford.

Attorney General Justin Simon confirmed the move, adding that notice of the revocation would be forwarded to Stanford next week. He explained that this must be done since the law prescribes that Stanford must return the insignia.

Stanford was knighted on the recommendation of the main opposition Antigua Labour Party in 2006 during Antigua and Barbuda's Silver Jubilee Independence celebrations.

Moves to strip Stanford of the knighthood began last year, months after he was charged by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission of perpetrating a US$7-billion Ponzi scheme that bilked unsuspecting investors.

Guess he won't need it here

3. No some of the former British territories
have their own version of the honor - I think it is ridiculous, but then I have always despised British titles.

6. The Queen is still the head of state of A&B
The Governor-General is her representative, and usually performs the assorted duties (like knighting and un-knighting) on her behalf.

10. The Queen is still HOS of Jamaica as well and we have our own
National Honors. That was also true for Trinidad and Tobago before they became a Republic.
Stanford's knighthood had nothing to do with the Queen. It was an Antiguan honor.
Although Barbados is independent, Barbadians use British honors - same with St Lucia.

17. Err, so?
Ian was asking how you you get a knighthood without a king or queen: The answer is, they do have one.

Yes, they have their own honours. So do NZ, Australia, and Canada, and they'll all administered by the respective governors general on behalf of the crown.

7. Orange scrubs become him
although stiped pajamas would work as well. Add in the 8x9 windowless cell, lock it and throw away the key, and the picture is complete. Have a nice, long, joyless life.

8. The Look Says "I Still Got Some Stashed"...
This shitstain is the poster child for rigging the financial system...moreso than Madoff. If it wasn't for Stanfords money laundering operations, Madoff wouldn't have been able to peddle as much shit as he did.

The good thing is this crook got nabbed...compared the vast number who are not only still playing games but still making the big coin.

11. True but compared to the Wall Street
robber barons, Stanford was small change. Justice will only be done when Dick Fuld et al are also behind bars.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/35842013/Stoltmann_Fuld_and_Other_Wall_Street_Execs_Should_be_Indicted
<snip>
So where are the criminal indictments of Wall Street CEOs after the largest economic crime spree is U.S. history?

The release of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy report last week and its scathing assessment of former CEO Richard Fuld and other senior executives at Lehman Brothers raises serious questions as to whether conduct engaged in at Lehman Brothers may have been criminal in nature.

Yet, despite the destruction of Lehman through massive sums of leverage in highly risky derivatives and the reverse engineering of the firm’s net leverage ratio, it appears as though Fuld and other senior executives are going to walk away scot free.

After the 2000 market crash, we witnessed the indictments and convictions of Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling at Enron, Dennis Kozlowski at Tyco and Bernie Ebbers at Worldcom. Absent government intervention with hundreds of billions in taxpayer money in 2008 and 2009, the worldwide economy would have all but certainly melted down because of the actions of major U.S. brokerage firms and insurance companies.

Now, after equally big implosions at Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, AIG , Merrill Lynch and Citigroup , we see nothing from federal prosecutors in terms of indictments or arrests of senior Wall Street executives.

12. Fuld Will Be Taken Care Of By Those He Stole From...
While I'd love to see this crook frogmarched and people pelt him with eggs, I think the worst fate for him awaits in civil courts. If there's one thing a rich, greedy bastard hates is to have to spend that money on something other than a new jet or mansion...and to have to face dozens of suits from pissed off investors and shareholders who can claim Fuld neglected his "fiduciary duties" in gambling away all that money. I welcome the day when this crook and others lose their ill-gotten fortunes...a fate worse than being behind bars to them.

9. Life is full of inconvenient karmic adjustments
And sometimes it just falls beautifully into place like dominoes. All it takes is one little push to bring it all down in an inevitable chain reaction.
