Is Global Warming Real? Just Ask the Flowers
Is Global Warming Real? Just Ask the Flowers

Thanks to obsessive record-keeping by generations of British flower lovers, biologists have determined that plants in the United Kingdom are blooming earlier than at any time in the last 250 years. These researchers also have noticed a change in the onset of spring and summer as a result of global warming. The scientists examined more than 400 species and hundreds of thousands of flowering records and concluded plants have produced flowers earlier in the last 25 years than in any other period going back to the 1750s.

Another study published earlier this year found that spring in the UK now begins 11 days sooner than it did three decades ago. The change in spring, as well as summer patterns, could have drastic affects on animals, birds and fish that rely on flowering plants.

Stephen Thackeray, a biologist at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Lancaster, told the Guardian: “Animals and birds time their reproduction to coincide with periods when there will be an abundance of food. If changes mean there is not enough food available then this could have negative consequences for their offspring.”

1. This only proves the UK is warming
You have to show similar plant data all over for this type of information to be factored in. I suppose this is happening elsewhere too, but people aren't as obsessive as the British. Maybe we can research psychiatrist wards in more normal countries, they may have patients there who do keep such records in their personal diaries?

3. I've seen similar anecdotal evidence from New England
Two pictures of the same field, one from March in the 1920s, one from March in the 2000s. Bare trees in the first, full leaves in the second.

4. Google "Japan Cherry Blossoms"
Or one might want to google "earliest lake melts" or a host of other such data from just about anywhere around the world.

They climatologists appear to have lured the entire EARTH into supporting the "scam" of AGW.

2. Jeeze, I've noticed this in my yard in just a decade...
hostas used to spike in mid to late may - they're up and leafing now

roses are leafed and beginning to bud when it was lucky if they were blooming by Mother's Day

ornamental grasses, iris's and other perennials that don't go dormant during winter, but keep blades, and have small patches that remain green during winter (spiderworts, daisies, blackeyed susans, coneflowers, etc.)

oh, and birds who stick around, and nest and reproduce earlier each year. the bluebirds have been raising two broods for years now. we keep feeders out all winter and the robins, cardinals, etc., never leave anymore....

6. Based on the Evidence shown, I declare Global Warming is Real
But now you have to show me the cause. Maybe it's caused by the way we're cleaning the air? Less aerosols in the atmosphere may mean less absorption of infrared and red wavelenghts.

Or maybe the sun is getting hotter.

:-)

8. Sadly, the deniers will simply say it's not "anthropogenic".
The greenhouse effect seems to elude them. See above.

10. They are probably too young to have seen the changes themselves.
They need data.

11. What I mean is that most "skeptics" don't deny the warming, but that we are making it happen.
They're wrong, demonstrably so. But just proving that warming is occurring isn't enough for them to accept that we have to change our behavior.

12. The Japanese are legendary gardeners themselves. Somewhere there are records in Japan as well...
I can just about guarantee it, and the records won't be in haiku, either.
