1. I'd rather see an openly liberal justice
but I don't think either of us are going to get what we want

2. I would love to that too! But ultimately, sexual orientation should not be qualification.

4. lesbian - maybe......gay man - nope
Edited on Fri Apr-09-10 05:37 PM by FLAprogressive
Lesbians are *far* more accepted in society than gay men are and I can guarantee that there'd be more of an uproar over the latter than the former. (And we know Obama doesn't like to fight) Sad but true.

A nice thought but although we're likable enough, I don't see it happening.

12. Well it would be great if he was gay.
It could spark a real ideological transformation later on. We've seen this many times. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lindsay Graham become a Democrat after he's out of the senate and decides he's sick of celibacy.

9. I would love to see a justice chosen...
solely on their merits and experience and is capable of keeping their personal opinions, religious and political beliefs to themselves.

But, we can't have any of that now can we when we could have a Middle Eastern transgendered dwarf, to serve on the bench if it will satisfy peoples need to feel all warm and snuggly about their 'progressiveness' and openness to diversity.

14. Would Obama do it...
No. Do you think the Republicans would stand for a gay judge? According to them passing HCR was "The Apocalypse" A gay on the supreme court? The Big Bang. End of the universe as we know it. Or as Calvin would have called it... The Horrendous Space Kablooie!!
