If Nixon were president now... |
|
He would never have been forced to resign.
The GOP so flagrantly violated and debased the whole idea of Impeachment by going after Clinton with such Glee that no one will dare to use it as a tool of constraint for the foreseeable future.

2. Nixon would never make it in the Republican party of today. |
|
He'd be considered a far-left radical. Fucking Reagan would be considered too liberal for these assholes.

5. I think it was a big reason for their actions. |

They know the democrats don't have the balls to engage in political retribution no matter how hard the evidence.

has come a very long way to the right, and most people don't acknowledge it (some may not even realize it).

14. If Tricky Dick was alive he would have moved to the right along with everything else... |
|
Remember, Nixon rose to prominence by calling people commie and socialist. He courted the faction of the Republicans that has completely taken over politics -- the Birchers and proto-teabaggers.
He ran for and won the presidency in a much more liberal political environment, so he had to tack left on some issues to maintain support among Republican moderates. They're gone now, chased out of the party by Newt and the rest of the political vandal squad. If Nixon were still active, we'd be getting the Real Dick, and it wouldn't be "left of Obama".
