K&R if you paid your taxes today and feel patriotically warm and fuzzy
Edited on Wed Apr-14-10 10:50 PM by AzNick
I should have paid federal taxes but since I did not get my Obama cash on my pay check, this was added to my refund, I ended up with a tiny refund on my federal, but still had to pay State taxes.

Here is my current Facebook status: "Turbotax - Great news! I just finished my taxes." and then I commented: "Like a true patriot who likes to drive on well-maintained roads and wants nurses and teachers and cops and firefighters and our brave servicemen to get a good wage."

Already got a couple Likes :)

2. Mmmm...war funding.
I love my place in the bloodletting machine.

Seriously, the whole tax process is a misallocation of funds. But, I do pay my share...unlike so many big corporations.

3. I'm happy to pay taxes
Because I get services in return. A federal highway system, the Center for Disease Control, Air Traffic Controllers, people that make sure the food I eat and the prescriptions I take are safe, National Parks I can visit, world class research facilities, financial security for my aging relatives, and the list goes on and on...

5. Always on the 15th. I'm a contractor so I don't part with the cash until 8:30 AM.

The taxes are done, but I don't send the Feds anything before I have to.

6. FIled a week or so ago, and get a big fat refund
So I'm feelin' pretty good. Note, I DID pay my fair share in, just had too much withheld.

10. You should redo our W4
More money every month, more manageable.

But yes, Christmas in January (or February, as some tax forms take longer to be provided), it's always a good thing.

13. Just to clarify, I'm not filing jointly with AzNick
While I'm sure Nick is a nice person...

I let my CPA tell me what to withhold. I'd much rather get a refund than have to scrounge up a few hundred (or a few thousand) dollars in a hurry to pay the tax bill.

Honestly, I'd rather make an interest-free loan to the government and get a balloon payment back, than to make a nearly interest-free loan to my bank (0.07% interest rate... that's 7 percent OF 1 percent) which I just find insulting.

7. I thought I was going to have to pay
At the last minute, I found that I missed a credit which put me in the black by $32. Pizza's on me!

8. Got a refund for first time in at least a decade. New changes in credits for
education helped a ton....at least 5K difference for us, having two kids in college.

11. I paid taxes every quarter last year and sent in my return on Monday
But since our income went down last year, we will get a nice BIG refund! I even left part of it with the Feds to make sure I don't get socked next year.

12. We have paid for the last several years, but I don't feel like it's
a tragedy.
It's all Federal and State, we don't pay local taxes since we retired.
