Why does a twit like Palin get so much attention from the media?
I mean she ran for VP and was a liability on a losing ticket. Quit in the middle of her first term as governor. Yet the media gives her more of a spotlight than many national figures who actually do something.

1. Because she draws audiences, which increase the value of advertisements
It's very simple.

Sometimes it doesn't work out, but the intent (make more money) is always the same.

No other reason.

Americans are "angry" so don't make us trade fraudulent derivatives on open exchanges!

12. She is able to have large crowds show up for her events.
Right now she and the Teabaggers are the only game in town.

There is no movement on the left so she naturally gets
all the coverage.

14. because that's what people are interested in.
At least if you go by what people discuss on internet forums (even DU).

Why does she get so much attention at DU? The answer to that is probably similar to the answer to your question.

17. Why do people ask this question at least twice a day?
Butts in seats. That's it, that's all. She's "controversial," and the MSM loves that because it keeps people talking and tuning in. Same reason why the tea party movement gets 24/7 coverage.

.. Palin provides a sideshow and an audience that costs the networks NOTHING...

If the networks were to show Roller Derby or WWF, for instance, they'd have to pay royalty fees.

20. It's pure T&A
Cut the Gordian Knot and that's all it is. Palin isn't leading anything. She's getting up on stage, waving her hair in the breeze, and singing the song her fans want to hear. It really is a sort of Rap Star role. And, of course the media eats it up. It's the same thing as the "pretty blonde abductee of the week" and the reason they put naked girls in ads for replacement windshield wipers.

Palin, Bachmann, Coulter...these GOPers run their sex and political lives out of the same neural areas of their brains. Prostitutes and porn stars take note.
