I'd like to think that among the most amazing political moments |

of irony for the past 100 years, the Icelandic volcano' ash must rank as #1. The funeral for the late Polish President, a pro-Western extreme right figure financed by the West, turned out to be an all Eastern and Central European affair with the symbolic fence-mending with the Russians.
The reality that spewing ash prevented all Western representatives from attending will not be missed in the political histories of the moment. Mother Nature has one hell of a sense of humor.

I still look back at their most recent election in wonder. Euro students of politics seriously wondered if Poland could survive. The conservative catholic, ultra-conservative bloc that won actually acted with less vehemence and faith based crap than they had originally threatened (which helped calm fears).
The president's brother is crazier than the deceased president. Talks that he would take over his post have against raised fears and loathing in Poland.

What's more is that the President was heading for a massive defeat in elections later this year.
