Arizonans - Buy and wear a serape or other distinctive clothing.
Edited on Sun Apr-25-10 10:10 AM by MineralMan
For liberal Arizonans, there's an easy way to protest the unconstitutional and anti-immigrant law just passed and signed.

Buy a serape and wear it whenever you go out. Make your statement visibly. Challenge the concept of defining people by their clothing and skin color.

In hot weather, try a guayabera or some other distinctively Mexican apparel. Any Mercado in any AZ city will have many options.

3. Thanks. It's easy to do, and they're sort of cool anyhow.
A good way to show solidarity with those who will be most affected by this law.

5. Sure - I'd love to wear that when the mercury climbs to 110° this summer.

Not. The sandals are a much better idea.

6. Yes, of course. Wear it appropriately.

If it's hot, wear a guayabera, one with some nice details. The point will still be made. Or a Mexican wedding shirt, like the one below:

7. Too hot for the summer. I'll get a serape in October. For now...
...I'll buy tortillas every week from Anita Street Market--easily, the best tortillas in Tucson. I'll donate to Chicanos Por La Causa; if I see Hispanics being stopped, I'll stop, too, and act as a witness; and I'll dye my hair dark (which I do, anyway) and work on my tan.

8. Yeah, it would be tough when it's hot.
There is other distinctive clothing from Mexico, though, more suitable for hot weather. Attractive for men and women, too. Every Mercado in the area sells this stuff.

14. LOL!
Go for it!

I can only imagine how good the tortillas must be from the best place in Tucson. All we get are grocery store ones in Ohio. Still, I was sad when my enchiladas were gone. Must make more.....

11. If I lived in Arizona, I would seriously wear
Salwar Kameez.

I have a set I haven't yet had a chance to wear.

Cool...comfy...and it would give them yet another ethnic group to worry about...
