Sounds like a good American oil company? Well, at least the oil spill is not going to wash upon the shores of England. Are the Chinese drilling down there also? This disaster could last for months and wipe out the livelihood of many coastal residents.

But, it doesn't matter to the residents and the oceanic wildlife what the corporate logo on the oil leak is. No more offshore rigs.

But, I question the motivation of some of these companies to be as safe as they could be. This well had no cut-off valve.

It's owned pretty equally by American and UK investors: http://www.bp.com/extendedsectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9010453&contentId=7019612So, yes, in a way it is an American oil company.
