Should we still consider Charlie Crist a Republican governor on paper?

Cornyn is basically telling him to hit the road for good. Win or lose, this might be good if it spares Bill Nelson from a Crist challenge in 2012.

Shouldn't we then chalk this up as a LOSS of a Republican governorship on the scorecard then?

1. Actually, with the way the GOP is changing he might be the ONLY Republican governor.
I think he's doing a good thing by cutting the strings. It won't change his opinions or policies, but at least he won't have to kiss their asses.
