Tea Partiers boiling over NYC mayor's comments
A conservative organization is calling on New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to apologize for remarks he made shortly after the recent failed terror attack in Times Square.

Less than 24 hours after the failed car bomb attack, CBS anchor Katie Couric asked Mayor Bloomberg about possible suspects.

Bloomberg: "If I had to guess 25 cents, this would be exactly that. Somebody..."
Couric: "A home grown?"
Bloomberg: "A home grown, maybe a mentally deranged person or somebody with a political agenda doesn't like the healthcare bill or something -- it could be anything."

Although the mayor did not mention the Tea Party by name, Andrew Langer, president of the Institute for Liberty, believes Bloomberg's message was clear.

"...The most outspoken movement on the healthcare bill has been the Tea Party movement," Langer explains. "(Mayor Bloomberg) might have been trying to parse words or have it both ways, but the end result is still the same -- he was trying to pin this on the Tea Party movement."

Langer is calling on the mayor to make things right. "We are going to be asking for the mayor to recognize what this movement is all about and to apologize for his ill thoughts ill-conceived remarks," he remarks.

Funny how it never occurs to these 'baggers to do a little self-reflection. Oh, and, um, sorry in advance for the source. One News Hour is about as bad, if not worse, than World Nut Daily.

3. Actually, I agree with them this time, he's the Mayor.
It's one thing for posters on the internet to speculate, it's wrong for a elected official to do the same. Keep your mouth shut until you know the facts.

9. So you would be OK if the Mayor of New York blamed
muslim terrorists for an attack before he had any facts? If the role was reversed and it turned out he blamed foreign terrorist for a crime committed by domestic terrorist, there would be 40 posts lamenting his ignorance.

14. I do think the mayor should have chosen his words more wisely
I also think that as a citizen, with free speech, he is in accord with the general population. The statement is reflective of how we are all on edge over the white/fright wind nuts that are still luring out there.

16. Plenty of talking heads speculated that it was the work of "eco-terrorists"

but I don't hear Greenpeace or any other environmental organization demanding any apologies.

This is standard for right wingers...they "demand an apology" every time anyone says anything they don't like.

Langer is so upset, I think Bloomberg nailed it.

7. Well Bloomberg was an idiot with a serious case of foot in mouth disease.
He was way out of line to be speculating about motivations of perps like that. Such speculation nearly always comes back to bite the speaker.

Having said that, the baggers are in no position to be calling anyone for foot in mouth disease.

8. "trying to parse words or have it both ways,"
They know better than anyone how to do that. They hear words that are not spoken, they do not hear what is spoken.

12. Dots' they don't like dots being connected.
I wonder if people are starting to connect dots -- people like Bloomberg. -- those dots are simple, the people on the extreme right are so extreme that people actually think they could be capable of this violence.

They need to cut back on the hate and violent rhetoric. When you have people like Michelle Bachmann calling for citizens to be 'locked and loaded' and Sarah Palin putting her 'Gun Sights' On Democrats she's targeting... WHY would people not think they could be a possible suspect?

It's a fair question. I only used 2 examples from the far right. I could find far more, from the likes of M. Savage, Glenn beck, Ruch Limbaugh etc.

They are the ones planting seeds of violent acts, and when someone thinks that one of their own might be a party to this cap, they should not be surprised.

17. I have to admit, my first thoughts were exactly Bloomberg's (and I don't see
eye to eye with him on a hell of a lot). This is freaky...I work just off Times Square. Yay.
