Lisa Madigan for U.S. Supreme Court.
She would be my choice if I were Obama. The Illinois AG is only 43, she has a history of fighting corruption, busted Blago. I think the Democrats need to take from the Republican playbook. Nominate Supreme Court justices in their 40's. Clinton picked Bader Ginsburg when she was 60, and Breyer at 56.

1. Nope. Need diversity on court. Too many Catholics and Jews.
Time to diversify.

2. Too True
I don't know about Madigan specifically, but age matters. We're not going to have balance on the Supreme Court if Republican Presidents keep appointing Justices 50 and younger and Democrats keep appointing Justices 55 and older.

I hate to be all ageist, but facts are facts

4. I've never heard anyone say a bad word about her.
And Illinois politics is full of bad words, you know?

5. She is amazing.

I have had dealings with her and her office in my political role in my county. Her office is run efficiently and honestly.

My grown children have friends who are working for her as young attorneys. They think she is great.

Lisa is also very tough. She is known for her toughness.

It's interesting that she is so well liked, while her father is so widely despised in this state, even by his fellow Democrats. He is one of the most powerful Democrats in the country, and few people even realize who he is. Do you ever see his name in any of the national publications? I think it is a measure of his success and power that he does not attract the attention of journalists, pundits and so-called insiders. Rove used to be like that. I think Rove's effectiveness began to wane as soon as people realized who he was and what he did for the republican party and the bushes.

Blagojevich may not be any more dishonest than many other Illinois politicians have been. If he goes to jail, it may be for something like perjury. Blago's real crime was his open war with Mike Madigan.
