Giuliani praises Bush as a 'great president'
http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070505/NEWS09/705050352/-1/ENT05

Cedar Rapids, Ia. - Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani said in Iowa on Friday that President Bush's response to terrorism will ensure his legacy is that of "a great president."

"He will be, I believe, a president who will be viewed by history for this one decision as being a great president," the former New York mayor told about 100 Cedar Rapids-area Republicans during a quick campaign stop in eastern Iowa. "He decided in a flash to put our country on offense against terrorism."

National public opinion polls show slightly fewer than half of Americans approve of President Bush's performance in fighting terrorism.

The issue rated high among election-year priorities with voters last fall, however.

The former mayor, closely associated with the 2001 attacks in New York City, stresses the issue as one of two pillars to his candidacy for the GOP presidential nomination.

"The very best way to deal with it, which I understand ... is for America to be on offense against terrorism and never, ever, ever go back to being on defense," Giuliani said during a 45-minute forum at a heavy equipment dealership on Cedar Rapids' north side.

4. Goofy...hitching his star to that 28% approval rating
Then again, nobody with any knowledge of Giuliani would ever accuse him of having consistently good political judgment.

9. Maybe he means Bush is a "great president" the same way...
...people do when they say Hitler was a "great man" - i.e. his impact on history is enormous, if hideously destructive. Then again, it's probably Rudy just being an asshole again.

I guess it's a hallmark of neo-Republicanism that you'll pander to the party no matter what is in charge at the time. These people make me :puke:

18. Rudy's Magical Mystery Tour
In the past I thought this goon would be a formidable contender. The more he tries to pander the worse he looks...especially if he's trying to go after the bushbots. In many ways, this tactic all but shows how morally and politically bankrupt this inept party has become and that they've all but conceded the '08 elections to be a mandate on the past 8 years. I've got no problem with that.

I was perusing a wingnut website and reading the "spirited" discussions between the Rudy supporters and those of others (most support one of the lower dwarfs...Tancredo or Hunter or are holding out for Gnewtie or Thompson)...and the knives have been out for months and getting longer and sharper. Unlike the top Democratic contender who agree to disagree on most issues and generally are friendly to one another, Rudy's bringing the venom to the party...Mittens is throwing it around and soon the real mud will fly.

Add to this the various 527 groups that have their own candidates and agendas...like Club For Growth...who Rudy sure isn't a charter member...and we'll have more mud flying soon that a 4 x 4 stuck in a swamp.

19. Ok, let me get this straight.
Launching a cruise missile attack against a terrorist training camp is being on "defense", and sitting still for 9.5 minutes letting the piss stain on your pants dry after being told "America is under attack" is being on the offense.

Have I got that right?

And does that then mean that placing your emergency control center at the heart of the target area after there has already been one attack on that same target qualify you to be known as a "Great Mayor"?
