1. That well is used exclusively to kill the Gulf of Mexico and Florida.
They're currently working on making sure it trashes the Eastern seaboard also.

8. no...
Remember the rig caught fire, turned over, and sank? That was their only way to monetize this resource.

6. No
BP is trying all they can to cover their asses.

They are losing something like 50x more money than they would have ever recovered from the well.

7. It's really amazing BP hasn't raised the price of gas...
using the oil spill as the excuse. You know....shortage of oil.

10. Give them time
They are too focused on the PR excericise of making people believe they have a handle on the situtation right now to recover their losses from cleaning it up by screwing you right now. Patience, patience.

9. They never got oil from this well
The rig that went down was a rig that is used to drill wells, an extraction rig would have taken its place after the well was drilled and a pipeline to the surface was created and stable.

11. My theory:
I think that the only "fix" that they want to work is the one that is months away: the secondary well into that oil. If they are successful at stopping the gushing oil by plugging it they may not be allowed to profit from whatever is left of that oil deposit. A secondary well billed as the best way to stop the gushing into the ocean also means that they get their filthy hands on the oil that they are coveting.

12. In my opinion, it's unthinkable that BP is still being allowed to
operate as a business.

13. I wouldn't be suprised if BP didn't change it's name or
if they keep losing money, they might go bankrupt and then will be easy picking for Exxon-Mobil.
