Joey Scar actually made the most salient observation yet |
|
And I don't think he even realizes the magnitude of what he just stated in passing just before they broke for commercial: Things were a lot easier for Republicans when they had the Soviet Union and real bogeymen to run against, instead of actual issues that require nuance and explanation.
That's it in a nutshell. Joe just admitted it, they have NO SOLUTIONS, they only have FEAR. Looks like they're the ones running scared now.

3. They still fear monger but their targets now are: |
|
immigration/illegal aliens, the deficit and "national security"(a nice catch-all umbrella for the ongoing erosion of civil rights).
The Dems seem to be buying into fear mongering themselves about the deficit and national security, trying to out-Republican the Republicans.

7. Not just Republicans... |
|
but the capitalist ruling class in general.
It is a curious coincidence that the assault on the middle/working class really got on in earnest upon the demise of the Soviet Union. Both parties have been fully involved in this, the Clinton and now the Obama administration doing what the Republicans couldn't get away with. It could be said that the Red Army defended the American Middle Class.

We received most of those benefits because the Soviet Union existed. Once 'communism' (as if it ever existed in the Soviet Union) was no longer a threat, both the plutocrats and the catholic church took off the gloves openly campaigned against our rights and freedoms. The current pope would welcome feudalism in a flash as would most of the other RW religious leaders pushing church over state.

If so, wow. I didn't think Joey had it in him.
Maybe he just didn't realize what he was saying. They'll probably edit it out of the transcript...

Paraphrased, although the first part, is pretty much verbatim -- "Republicans had it easier when the Soviet Union was still a power, and we had the cold war..." -- darned close to those words.

The GOP are political terrorists. They depend on fear and threats to get over.
I hope Obama learns that, "You can't make deals with political terrorists."

16. The bogeyman now for Repukes is our own government |
|
They're running for government offices on an anti-government platform ...
... which is the same thing as an anti- WE THE PEOPLE platform.
When your mantra is that government can't do anything right -- and you gain control of the government -- the result is bad government that represents the big-money corporate interests, NOT the People.

That's it in a nutshell. If the lunatic wing of the Republican party is fed ten-second soundbytes filled with fear and hysteria--the Republicans win.
The sane wing of the Democratic party requires more thoughtful and rational discourse. Usually it takes several minutes to explain the issues and understanding these issues requires intelligence and critical-thinking skills.
If people slow down, listen and use their brains--the neocons and their Fascist agenda (that comes from BOTH parties!!) lose. It's all fear, soundbytes based on lies and Glen Beck chalkboard nonsense with those freaks.
