The dude is about as engaging as a damp washclothe. I'm going to dl one of his speeches in case I need help getting to sleep at night. One tea bag does not make a whole pot of tea.

1. Well, I hope the turnout last night is an indication. More than twice the voters were Democrats.
November repeat, please. Coast to coast.

2. He just blew a question on Morning Jerk about how he would
compromise about the deficit. He started talking about term limits. Morning Jerk quickly took command and changed the subject. This dude is not ready for prime time.

4. Yes, because given our history...
..there's just no chance that people would elect a person with no political accumen, zero personality, and crackpot ideas.

I mean really, that would NEVER happen.

And there's even less of a chance that the dems will screw it up either because that's the only thing LESS likely to happen.

Right?

5. George Bush has personality. Some even say charm. Paul has *yawn* -- huh, what?
Oh, I fell asleep just thinking about him.

Let's see; Bush I was a capable speaker, and well-connected, and he had Reagan coat tails. Reagan, as empty a soul as he was, had charisma and grandfatherly like-ability. Nixon had a presence, if nothing else. Ford was appointed, not elected.

Rand Paul will have to campaign. On a campaign trail, with an opponent who will try to engage him and debate him, and Rand doesn't have the personality, the charm, the presence, or the acumen, to handle a bigger challenge. I won't place a big bet either way, because stranger things have happened, but I don't expect Rand Paul to inspire the broader electorate.

6. Bush also had the NAME.
Repubs love brand names, and Bush was one of the biggest. After all, his dad was in office for 12 years. As long as low-info voters thought he would carry the Reagan momentum just like his daddy, he would be able to sucker enough of them to steal it. And Team Bush II DID.

Many serious conservatives still view the Pauls as crackpots and not serious candidates. They're far too in love with Sarah's naughty bits to be swayed.

11. Nixon was intelligent, despite his other obvious vices...
and many of his policies were more liberal than anything proposed today. Rand has that angry hate going for him, which is like honey to the teabagger stable flies. I know that Kentucky is incredibly RW, but surely the independents will tire of this schtick before November... I hope.

8. I hope Kentucky voters step into their precinct booths in November with a
clear sensorium. Conway would make the better national representative.

Rand Paul is a loose cannon.
