They seem to think he brought about the fall of the USSR, because he said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!'"

If that is the case, too bad he didn't say, "AIDS virus, go away and never come back!" :silly:

1. Ahh yes Reagan who only played war heros in B movies that conservonuts mistook as
documentaries, just like Leave it to Beaver was about life in the 50's or the Flintstones were a real family out of the stone age. When the very best Republicon leaders they had before Reagan was Herbert Hoover, I guess a movie legend is better then nothing in their minds. The really odd thing is when asked about what great things Reagan did that is all they can point to, then act all confused when informed that he was out of office when the wall came down.

2. "Well, the first thing I want to say is...Mandate my ass! "
Yeah we are living in a b-movie, and we would have rather had John Wayne. --> http://www.lyricsreg.com/lyrics/gil+scott-heron/B+Movie/

3. LOL - well they love heroes
And Reagan is nice and safe and dead, so he can be made to represent whatever they need him for at a given moment. I was listening to Sean Hannity the other day, and he was making up this whole narrative about Reagan and the Reagan era. He's a mythical character upon which to project the conservative fantasy.

4. I've actually met at least one Republican who copped to the fact that he knew
Edited on Wed May-19-10 11:01 AM by BlueIris
Reagan was not, in any way shape or form, "in charge" of his administration. It was this Republican who explained to me why so many Reaganites, especially those who worked directly for the admin at the time, are so possessive of him. They're not defending "Reagan" policies, they're defending the policies they came up with and worked to implement. Encouragingly, this was a younger Republican (age 24, I believe--back in the year 2000.) So there's hope for the next generation.

5. Heck yes.
After his week long funerary extravaganza they went to his sepulchre in California to see if he had been physically resurrected.
