Tar Balls on Florida beaches not from the Gulf Oil Spill
That is what local news is reporting; not those washing up in Ft. Myers, those and not in the Keys. The map they showed had the oil spill 200 miles off the coastline of Florida. They contain "oil", but not enough (????) from the Gulf Oil Spill. Also, the tests on the dead sea turtles are inconclusive (????????).

What do YOU think? Personally, given the fact that BP is giving millions of dollars to promote tourism in the these states, I don't believe it.

2. Yeah, they dropped from the sky while the angels were bowling with tarballs.
Which is just as plausible as the news explaining it away.

6. Is this common? Do tar balls normally just show up like this?
I think BP is a criminal corporation. Why are reporters not allowed on American beaches in the Gulf?
This is the same old story, or bag of BS, we common folks are constantly screwed by our corporately owned country.

15. Yes, they are common

It's sad that people don't know how polluted the earth's waters already are.

A common source is bilge dumping.

7. I've lived on both coasts in Florida - tar balls frequently washed up...
...on the east coast but I've never seen them on the Gulf side.

I don't trust BP or the Dept. of the Interior at this point - it would take completely independent scientific studies to convince me.

9. Not from Deep Horizon..?
Then WE have ANOTHER disaster happening simultaneously?
Yesterday, the Keys' reported "60 tarballs", for several hours..
*poof!*
by evening news-time, reports were "20 tarballs"..
but no worries, "sometimes, it occurs naturally"..

I can handle anything.Just DON'T freakin' LIE to me!

10. suggestion: call the local news outlet &
ask them where they got the information. Contact whoever's doing the analysis or find a marine science lab or research group to ask. Collect some tarballs to see if they differ from tarballs in the coming weeks. People who care about this need to do some verifying. Let's just say I wouldn't trust any line from the local media without some corroboration.

13. "Tar Balls" = a descriptive term denoting the extraordinary bald-faced arrogance of Oil Company
spokespersons. As in, "Wow, that lying asshole really has tar balls!"
