Joining the military does *not* offer a path to legalization for the undocumented

I've read on several posts today that joining the military offers a path to citizenship to the "illegals".

I think that some the confusion comes from the fact that the military sometimes offers a faster process for naturalization. But in order to qualify, one must already be legally living here. The undocumented don't qualify.

In order for an immigrant to join the United States military, they must first go through the immigration process of the USCIS (previously known as the INS) and then and then begin the enlisting process.
