Introducing Andrew Romanoff
DUers who are sick of "Conservadems" and "Spineless Democrats" you could do worse than to donate to the campaign of Andrew Romanoff, candidate for Senator from Colorado. (I know there was an earlier post about him, but I'd like to get him some serious exposure here if that's okay.)

He's running against Michael Bennet (of Public-Option-letter-and-then-cave-in-the-end fame) who was appointed to the seat when Salazar was made Interior Secretary.

An earlier post talked about Romanoff's history of creating a Democratic majority in Colorado, but he's got another claim to fame that is quite refreshing: Romanoff is NOT TAKING CORPORATE CASH FOR HIS CAMPAIGN. He asked Bennet to join him, but Bennet refused. Andrew won the Colorado Democratic assembly yesterday by quite a lot, but it's going to be a long struggle to beat opponents with deep corporate pockets behind them--both his primary opponent and the Repubs in November. His campaign slogan is "The Best Senator Money CAN'T Buy!"

He's done wonderful things in the State legislature--both houses, and he's a proven leader. My favorite part of his speech yesterday was when he admonished Dems in Congress to "Stiffen your spine or STEP DOWN!"

Anyway, you can research him, and ask me anything. Hopefully other Coloradans here will back me up.

His website is..

3. Indeed.
In my opinion, Romanoff should have been appointed to that seat--Not Micheal Bennet. I will not forgive Ritter for that, and I won't forgive Obama for endorsing Bennet. He needs to stay out of this.

5. I met him once about ten years ago...
And I was impressed even then. I don't know him personally, but I'm campaigning for him as hard as I can. I hope we can get some DU coverage for him. I think he's a DU kind of candidate.

6. Romanoff is worth supporting
Bennet is not the Dem I want in the Senate. Romanoff is a much better choice for progressives!!

Romanoff has a proven track record. Bennet is (so far) just good at grabbing an occasional headline and then not following through.

Romanoff for Senate!!

7. Bennet, by the way...
has never been elected to anything. Before his senate appointment he had been appointed to the state board of education.

It worries me that he might not even be able to win the election if he gets nominated (God forbid!)

8. I'm fully onboard with Romanoff
Bennett never should have been 'selected' by Ritter. My volunteer work with Romanoff begins after Memorial Day - I'm really excited for his campaign.

9. I feel the same way.
I don't really have anything against Bennet except the whole "public option" bate 'n switch, which was kind of frustrating. I just believe that Romanoff will follow through on those issues instead of just giving a bunch of lip-service.

I think of him as a Bernie Sanders type of elected official. Only younger.
