For the record, that BP number will get you in touch with absolutely no one who will listen to a single word you say. I've had to contact them previously for entirely different reasons, and just raising a human in that building is next to impossible.

I was trying to make it a little easier for those with a conscience to take some action
to save our dying gulf as BP does not seem to have much of a sense of urgency about it.

I never imagined some might find it hard to grasp or "cryptic." Sorry.

Imagine you have a wall.

Imagine you have been tasked with breaking through to the other side of that wall. Imagine that you choose to do this by beating your head against it repeatedly until the wall breaks down.

Were I to come along and see you doing this, I would suggest you not bother because doing so is pointless.

I would not, however, be suggesting you avoid your task altogether, especially since there's 20-lb sledge hammer sitting right here next to you, which is just perfect for breaking through these walls.

I'll just stop this dance right here.

If you want to do something helpful, offer your assistance with a volunteer organization, donate money, or find some other method of assisting the people and wildlife directly affected. If all you can manage is using the telephone and/or writing letters, start hammering Congress and the White House to keep up pressure and let them know we demand BP be held accountable.

Writing/calling BP accomplishes squat.

15. I'm not so certain that it accomplishes squat.

In fact, I believe if they meet with enough resistance from the average citizen
they may start to feel the need to change their ways. They have proven that they
have nothing to fear from Congress or the White House.

Writing/calling BP is just one very quick, easily accomplished part of an uprising.
