After keeping us waiting for a century, Mark Twain will finally reveal all
Exactly a century after rumours of his death turned out to be entirely accurate, one of Mark Twain's dying wishes is at last coming true: an extensive, outspoken and revelatory autobiography which he devoted the last decade of his life to writing is finally going to be published.

The creator of Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and some of the most frequently misquoted catchphrases in the English language left behind 5,000 unedited pages of memoirs when he died in 1910, together with handwritten notes saying that he did not want them to hit bookshops for at least a century.

1. Can't wait--first volume due in November:
"That milestone has now been reached, and in November the University of California, Berkeley, where the manuscript is in a vault, will release the first volume of Mark Twain's autobiography. The eventual trilogy will run to half a million words, and shed new light on the quintessentially American novelist."

2. That's something I'll have to pre-order.
I wonder what Mr. Clemens would make of all the bullshit going on in the world right now.

Sigh. How little things ever change...

7. Thanks for posting this.... I had not heard of this until now... I can't wait!!
Twain is in my opinion the greatest American writer/philosopher. I will definitely buy when it comes out.

My favorite quote:

When even the brightest mind in our world has been trained up from childhood in a superstition of any kind, it will never be possible for that mind, in its maturity, to examine sincerely, dispassionately, and conscientiously any evidence or any circumstance which shall seem to cast a doubt upon the validity of that superstition. I doubt if I could do it myself.
