To save some birds ( an outside the box idea) |
|
While watching a commercial that involved draping orange fabric on dams etc, I thought about Louisiana wetlands.
It's pretty much a given than any aquatic creatures are pretty much doomed if oil is in their habitat.
BUT birds who fly over, are attracted to the water below, and will land in it before they realize it's toxic to them.
Could fabric or gigantic tarps be suspended over marsh area that has been "oiled", in an attempt to dissuade birds from ever landing there.. I know that migratory birds are hardwired to go where they have always gone, but surely if it were suddenly unavailable to them, they would try somewhere else..
It would not "solve" the problem of the oil, but it could buy some time to plan what the next thing to do might be.
