A resident of the 11th Congressional District threatened to kill Rep. Heath Shuler (D-Waynesville) over his upcoming vote on the stimulus bill last year, according to Politico.

A 70-year-old man left a message at Shuler's district office that said, “If you vote for that stimulus package, I'm gonna kill you. Simple as that.”

The man, according to Politico, has a history of mental illness and was known to have a large supply of weapons.

When police contacted the man, he told them, "I was trying to work the political scene."

The Politico story highlighted the rise of threats against members of Congress. Besides Shuler, Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Rep. Ciro Rodriguez (D-Texas), Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark) and Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) received threats.

3. Threats to people with good intents happen often.

Look at the threats to society by unemployment and lack of health care, and look at the threats to society by a black oil well, or threats by people that want to keep people in fear.

A threat is to create fear, and fear is a tool of the enemy. So if a person feels something is trying to make them scared, they might be doing correct. Had a few things try and scare me over time, I ignore them, would not do them, and instead try and take the ability of something else to do something bad less likely by pointing the things out. Take away the nerve stapling, take the disappearing devices, remove bad if possible by showing what it is and does, so people do not have to live in fear. Or that is how I think on it.

And also try to find as much good so there can be joy in life.

So yes, many people with good intents have threats thrown at them often. Although some think a kind thing is a threat if they are opposite.

Since I don't think in ways of fear, I don't use threats, since I don't think that is a way to get anything done, since a threat has to continue getting worse and worse on the path to a security state of fear.

It is not a new concept, very old actually. If you work by fear, you have to keep being more fearful, and more horrible, hence why fear is bad to create.

Instead if you try to be kind, sometimes people will think on things a bit, and sometimes, if you are correct to begin with, move towards better ideas.


I should add, some people are scared of things, without a reason, seen that a bit also, I think it is part of themselves they have not been able to face that causes much of that.
