So that is why we have Democratic Presidents investigated, prosecuted and impeached for blow-jobs while Republican Presidents can illegally surveil and wiretap almost everyone, out CIA agents, torture, lie us into fabricated wars, literally stand by and watch hurricane victims die, manipulate elections, and do what ever else they feel like and the Dems will roll over and tell us to move forward and take all the illegalities off the table. For the good of who? The American people? I don't think so.
As sleazy and weird and hypocritical and willfully ignorant and corrupt as the Republicans are, they are always willing to shout and uphold the Rule of Law if they perceive it gives them an advantage. In a strange way, I actually take some comfort in that, in that at least some group is pretending that there ARE laws even if they only apply to some of the people some of the time = Democrats. In the Democratic world, investigating and prosecuting and impeaching/convicting is just so damn messyand we're just not up to the task.
And people are surprised that the Repubs and the media are all over the Sestak issue?
It won't go away. THEY WON'T LET IT.

"Whoever, directly or indirectly, promises any employment, position, compensation, contract, appointment, or other benefit, provided for or made possible in whole or in part by any Act of Congress, or any special consideration in obtaining any such benefit, to any person as consideration, favor, or reward for any political activity or for the support of or opposition to any candidate or any political party in connection with any general or special election to any political office, or in connection with any primary election or political convention or caucus held to select candidates for any political office, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both."

I don't know if this law is applicable or not. I don't understand the effect of "provided for or made possible in whole or any part by any Act of Congress" - what does that mean?
The Obama administration needs to get out front with details on what exactly occured with Sestak, because if they don't, believe me, at some point in the very near future he (Sestak) will. Soon, if they haven't already, the Republicans will say that he is participating in a "cover-up" of a crime by not divulging the details. Military guys always go berserk if anyone besmearches their honor. In fact, I think Sestake was highly insulted that someone thought he could be manipulated with a job offer and that's probably why he spilled the beans in the first place - to demonstrate his independence.
The only way for the White House to put this to rest is to tell everyone very clearly who made the offer, what position was being offered and what were the exact circumstances. There is a way that a perfectly legitimate offer could have been made both legally and ethically - if the person making the offer NEVER MENTIONED the primary race. Also, in one of the early interviews with Sestak he said that the offer was made "indirectly" - so that's also a possible out/explanation. But whoever made the indirect offer probably needs to be tossed under the nearest bus pronto. If the White House doesn't come forward with the details and put the whole thing to bed, this thing will just continue to fester and get bigger by the day.
