Poll: Jerry Brown Way Ahead Of Republicans For CA-GOV
A new survey of the California gubernatorial race by Public Policy Polling (D) gives Democratic state Attorney General Jerry Brown huge leads over the two Republican candidates in the race to succeed term-limited GOP Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Brown, who previously served as governor from 1975-1983 and ran for president three times, leads former eBay CEO Meg Whitman by 48%-36%, and leads state Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner by 48%-32%. The survey of registered voters has a ±3.2%. The TPM Poll Average gives Brown a lead over Whitman of 44.5%-40.3%, and lead over Poizner of 47.0%-34.0%.

Interestingly, Brown's favorable rating is only 37%, with a slightly higher unfavorable rating of 39%. However, Whitman is even worse at 24%-44%, and Poizner is even lower at 19%-43%. "Jerry Brown looks to be in good shape to return to the governorship 27 years after he left it," writes PPP president Dean Debnam.

1. Doonesbury had some comics on him back in the day
I don't recall them being particularly favorable - but the governator will make him look a lot better I suspect.

I know Brown is loved by some and despised by others but I am really looking forward to him being Governor.

With no democratic challenger, Jerry has just been able to watch those two GOP numbskulls beat each other up.

has been a race to the bottom. "I can be a bigger right-wing asshole than you can be."

9. I hope Poizner beats out Meg Whitman. No one is going to vote for
someone with that name and whose policies are right of Attila the Hun. Governor Poizner? What a perfect name for a Republican governor.

11. Whitman's campaign has been deplorable...
to the point I actually started feeling sorry for her!

Her ads are just shy of outright lies... and I'm sick of her face already. I'm sick of her using "liberal" as a dirty word too.

Notice how Fiorina is just a joke? No one even bothers to mention her. That is sad... for her.

13. Actually, I'm kind of afraid of Fiorini.
Karl Rove is taking part in her campaign and I noticed her new ad has improved over the laughable sheep one. The new one has Karl Rove's lies all over it. Hopefully there are enough Californians to outnumber and outvote the gullible ones. Although I wonder because I can't believe Arnold got a second term.

In practice as well. I can't explain it... I really can't. I think a bunch of lunatics voted for Conan the Barbarian or something.

I still think Brown can beat anyone on the GOP lineup.

19. The Republican Winner is going to be....
gasping for air once he/she wins and is over the finish line....and then see Brown fully freshed up and ready to go.

Their ads were so right wing, I think all Brown has to do is repeat them in order to win.

32. Jerry Brown was the worst governor California has had since his Dad
Except for Ronald Reagan, George Deukmajian, Pete Wilson (especially Pete Wilson), Gray Davis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

35. "Especially Pete Wilson"

I was living in Orange County and dating someone from San Diego at the time. I remember saying to him one night "Look, I know you San Diegoans LOVED Pete Wilson when he was your Mayor. So would you please take him back and give the rest of the state a break???" I wasn't the least bit political at the time, don't think I even voted in that governortorial election.

Fun memory of a happy time with someone I was crazy about...

Thanks for he memory! Later I became inspired into politics by Jerry Brown and his presidential run in 1992 - one of the most exciting and fun times of my life, in spite of his losing the nomination. Now I live in Oregon and am sorry I won't be able to vote for Jerry this election.

34. Thanks so much for posting this. I needed it.
Out here in rural Riverside County, there are "Meg" signs everywhere. You'd think she was a shoe-in. I was gagging at them all on my way home this afternoon. It's so good to realize this is just a small (and backward) area, not all that significant in the politics of the entire state.
