BP Blaming Employees For The Gusher

It now appears that BP, while attempting to plug the gusher with their so called "top kill" operation, has moved to trying to blame the Deepwater Horizon platform explosion and the BP oil gusher in the Gulf on it's employees who were on the platform at the time of the explosion.

In this short clip from CBS Wednesday, beginning at the 1:26 minute mark, you hear CBS News Correspondent Mark Strassman say that...

***"BP officials have told congressional investigators that right before the rig exploded, workers on it ignored strong warning signs - equipment readings that something was terribly wrong, including contaminated cement and leaking gas, signs that the rig could blow - and two hours later, it did.

..................

Nice try, BP. Directly contradicting BP's spin was BP's Chief Electronics Technician Mike Williams who was on the rig at the time of the explosion.

You might remember Williams. He was the technician who appeared on CBS' 60 Minutes a couple of weeks ago, in an interview by 60 Minutes' Scott Pelley, and described the events leading up to the explosion...

2. It was only a matter of time before the CEO and other leaders
started trying to take cover and place the blame on the lowly serfs.

4. Sorry. It was the "company men" - BP managers who are responsible
I believe the testimony of Schlumberger employees will ultimately show that the "company men" were dictating operations against the better judgment of drilling safety professionals.

We'll see.

5. I'm responsible for my employees...
If their work is fucked up, I helped by not paying attention. This is bullshit... they are going to try to weasel out... motherfuckers.

6. That's kind of a no brainer

Anything done by BP is done by a BP employee, so I really didn't think Disney employees were at fault here.

7. That's Big Oil's typical M.O.
It's all a legal ploy. They have armies of attorneys working on this 24/7 - probably more people than are working on trying to stop the leak or clean up their mess.

8. What did BP have? 560 violations to eight each for everyone else?
And that's WITH parties and sex with their regulators?

That ain't employee problems. That's management problems.

11. Of course they are!
I'm sure the idea that they can pin it on the dead guys just makes them salivate.

Unfortunately for them, Mike Williams got on 60 Minutes and told his story. Thank goodness! If he had not had the guts to get out there front and center, BP would have full control of the story right now.

12. It is my contension that all execs, ceo on down, board of directors
are subject to murder charges. This atmosphere of safety violations has been on going so that proves negligent intent. Until these people spend time in jail nothing will change because a slap on the wrists and fines will not cure this.

15. What too them so long?
I mean this is classic MO... it is ALWAYS the fault of the workers. Multiply this by ten if these workers are UNION... then they are down right EVIL.

Oh yeah, for those missing it... :sarcasm:

16. Way to take responsibility for the multi-million dollar salaries you make!
Go cheney yourselves, asswipes!

We always hear about how corporations must pay their CEOs mega millions or they're lose the "talent" to some other corporation, yet when something goes wrong, the CEOs always pass the buck on down to their employees. They never seem to have any job responsibilities within the corporations that are paying them millions.
