Economic Systems are not Fixed Places
Pushed into the heads of our population by the media, our population tends to view Capitalism, Socialism, Fascism, or Communism as very specific places. "That's Socialism." we hear lamented from time to time.

Clearly, if there is one thing we need to all do, we need to all realize is, economic systems are more like the knob on an old transistor radio, or a volume adjustment. You want to get it to just the right place, to tune in a station, or to just the right volume to make the situation the best for the most people.

Clearly, our economic "station" has drifted, and we're hearing the static of joblessness, and economic hardship. It has drifed to a plutocratic situation, where the top ten percent have so much wealth, and earn so much, that it sets 50 million working people, not to mention those who are jobless, into a tumultuous situation.

One thing you can say to anyone is, when we've got from 10 to 20 percent unemployment, it's pretty clear our situation needs some adjustment. If we have to slide a bit to the left to get a situation that betters our country, then so-be it. The rich will still be wildly rich.

2. I think the system slides to the left mainly when the population
gets mad enough to overthrow the overlords or when the overlords perceive that they are that angry. When they face a threat (real or imagined) of losing it all, they may allow the system to be a little bit more fair and even pay 90% income taxes as they did in the 1950s. But only then. This, sadly, shows that our democratic system is short circuited, as there is no way for the majority have their wishes enacted. The question is at what point will the right's efforts to keep the population divided start to fail; when will we see solidarity that transcends social divisions?

3. If the rich will still be wildly rich then we haven't gone left enough.
We need to kill capitalism before it kills us.
