In Imperial Germany, the human race began with the 2nd Lieutenant. |

Where does it begin in the US? With the M.A.? With the Law Degree? I am curious. In popular entertainment, it would appear that workers and the less educated generally are treated with contemptuous humor and do not count as real people. Thoughts?

2. I hadn't thought of the income angle. |

5. This was a bit of Wilhelmine era sardonic social commentary. |

Turn of the last century and meant to refer to the militarization of the German society. For a general idea of what this meant, I refer you to Der Hauptmann von Koepenick, an excellent mid-50's German flick which puts a comic twist on the situation. I equated this to the place where the Americans might draw the line at social worth.

Definitely. If you don't have an MBA, Law Degree or Marketing degree, or aren't getting one, or don't plan on getting one, you are sub-human. I hate: MBA, Lawyers, Marketing types. A degree in marketing has always struck me as like getting a degree in basket weaving. No, on second thought with basket weaving at least you are making a physical object. Did I say how much I hate marketing types? :puke: :grr: :nuke: :kick:

8. I hadn't thought about marketing. I have no idea what they do. |

Since I am an old-fashioned liberal arts grad. The equivalent to being a young officer attached to the German General Staff must be getting a degree from the Wharton Business School or the Law School at Harvard.
