U.S. Attorneys to Leave in '09, but Conservative Political Hirees in Justice Dept. will Remain
A BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS

George Bush has made sure that the upper levels of the Justice Department remained loyal to him throughout his time in office. But the new allegations of political hirings for lower level employees means that the stench of the Bush Administration will linger in federal law enforcement for years to come.

Like the Attorney General, U.S. Attorneys serve for limited terms and tend to be replaced when a new president takes office. Most other Justice lawyers, however, are career public servants and can stay as long as they want.

Even as the U.S. Attorney scandal grows worse - new reports suggest the LA U.S. Attorney was forced to resign for investigating powerful Republican Congressman Jerry Lewis - more and more questions are surfacing about other DOJ hirings.

Last week the mainstream media reported that DOJ is investigating Monica Goodling for using political affiliation to determine whom to hire as entry-level prosecutors around the country, a violation of federal law (BuzzFlash first broke this story three weeks ago).

Now, completely separate reports indicate that the DOJ's civil rights division has also been contaminated with political influence, especially for sensitive voting rights jobs.

3. These political hirees are in every single department of the federal gov't
Heck, the CDC is half empty because they couldn't find enough GOPer scientists to fill their positions.

The FDA and EPA seem to be full to the brim with people whose only goal is to make sure more GOPers get voted in/hired.

Cannot think of a single department which has not been infested with these GOPer staffers.

4. Fear not... there are 'ways' to re-order the ranks once a real administration comes to power
These toadies are mostly NOT qualified to even have the jobs they were given, and once the friendly atmosphere is gone in '09, their shortcomings will be easily exposed. I think that the "new hires" who WILL be qualified will "out" these goofballs in no time.

I'm also sure that "NEW RULES" will be instituted to help weed out the know-nothing cronies:)

5. I really hope you're right
It will take years to undo everything those roaches have done... assuming we're in power for a while. If not... eek.
