We should BAN any corporate executive from ever being in or near government |
|
No corporate executive should ever be allowed to be an officeholder or have any position within the government. This would end 90% of the corruption that is consuming our government and destroying our country. Corporate leaders go to government to sell out the people, ALWAYS. Lobbyists should also be outlawed.
Ideally, all elections should then be publicly funded, but if donations are allowed, no one who cannot vote for a candidate should be allowed to donate to that candidate.
No more than $100 should be allowed to be donated to any candidate in any election.
No money from outside a district or a state should be permitted.
All political advertisements should be banned and only have debates, which the media would be required by law to air on the publicly-owned airwaves.
If all of the above measures were adopted our country would have a chance at survival, but under the current system it is doomed to extinction by the evil that lurks in every corporation.

You attacked me for some strange reason without even giving me the benefit of the doubt of even knowing why. If you are going to respond to my posts at least make some kind of an attempt to describe what you are talking about.

5. That would end so much corruption... |
|
Business leaders and officeholders are having an orgy and they are getting all of the pleasures and the citizenry are just getting their STDs. Just how long are we going to tolerate the incestuous relationship between business and government? Or more importantly, how much longer will our country be able to survive their wanton fornicating with our Constitution, Bill of Rights and assaults against the people? We need massive changes to prevent the destruction of our country, government, citizens and our environment. We need to at least force them to have 'protected sex' in the form of strict regulations and ruthless punishments of all offenders of those regulations, like life sentences for corrupt corporate leaders like at BP, Wall Street and banks.

12. You are welcome to debate any issues, but blind attacks lead to nowhere |
|
If you have a problem with something I write you could at least cite any errors or unfactual information. I'd did quite well in school and I have three degrees from good universities. I earned a 4.0 GPA for the classes I took toward my Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters of Arts degree. I was also the honor graduate of the international school I attended while serving in the US Army.
Do you like and support the current corrupt system where corporations own our government and write our laws? If you disagree with the obvious intent of my post then I assume you do.
Have a good Memorial Day and if you see a veteran it would be nice to tell him or her 'thank you'. Without them you probably wouldn't be writing your posts in English.

15. We need to repeat that far and wide, that's a keeper. |

Catchy, and to the point. We need to hammer that home for the next 10 years and beyond.

11. I'm the biggest anti corporatocracy type in the world and I have to say this is unworkable and silly |
|
in its broadness.
Almost all businesses are incorporated. I've been a corporate officer in three and they could all be considered small or maybe medium size.
I know what you are probably really talking about - the revolving door between very large industries/businesses and their lobbyists and elected positions and I agree that it is unseemly and worse when people glide smoothly between. Look at Berlesconi in Italy if you want to see its worst fruition - imagine Roger Ailes running for office!
But while I understand what you are getting at, I really don't see how such a ban is possible.
It's up to the people to educate themselves enough to not buy into the "I'll run it like a business schtick" as the Shwartzeneggers and Whitmans and Fiorinas like to portray themselves when they run for elected office.
It's much more of a problem when industry types are turned into regulators of their former industries and sometimes go back into those industries later. This is a common problem at the state level as well.
This will be a bigger problem in the future now that Corporations can buy elections. Now they can buy elections for their own pre-determined candidates.
It's a mess.

13. I think you'd have just as many problems with an entrenched "civil service" class |
|
Edited on Mon May-31-10 04:02 PM by gmoney
bribery and favoritism would still happen, and I do think there is some value in having people with non-government experience working within the government.
By the way, the "good guys" have lobbyists, too. Teachers, unions, environmentalists, charities. Just not as many, and probably don't have as much money to throw around.
