There are some bad forest fires in Quebec
Edited on Mon May-31-10 07:17 PM by boston bean
and here in MA, the smoke is ground level, and the haze is very thick.

I guess there are air quality warnings, so people with trouble breathing, the young and elderly should be careful.

The forecasts said it would be done by 8pm today, but it's now 8:14pm and it's still pretty obvious and smelly.

1. I work in Ottawa. I drove through some heavy smoke this morning
It was like a mild fog, but it definitely smelled like wood smoke.

They were advising people with respiratory or heart conditions to stay inside with an air conditioner.

I hear it was worse in Montréal, where there were severe air condition warnings.

2. The air sucks, breathing sucks (pun intended) and my eyes hurt.
The smoke is everywhere. The fires in Quebec must be huge.

3. Where are you?
The forest fires are in Buckingham, just north of Ottawa. Are you near Ottawa?

6. SOUTHERN New Hampshire!
And the pictures from Boston on the news this evening are pretty awful. The air quality truly sucks and nobody is reporting on just what that might mean. I'm just glad nobody in my family has asthma or other breathing disorders.

9. It's bad here in central NH. Air pollution warnings up all today.
Even our bees were panicked. They do react to forest smoke.

10. We have it here in Upstate NY on the Canadian Border too.
We are on the St. Lawrence River right across from Canada. Earlier today it was a lot worse than what it is now.
