1. fear of shared liability?
or perhaps because the rest of the vultures are waiting to pick the BP carcass if/when they go belly up?

2. I don't know where the post is on DU but there was one a few days ago explaining why the other
oil companies are not involved. It was something to do with not wanting their finger prints on this thing, as they do not want to have there names dragged through the dirt.

3. They are supposedly. Every company is providing input, but
no one has ever dealt with a disastrous problem like this before.

I heard that last week from someone.

4. Um, because they are all profit seeking greed engines
not altruistic entities motivated by the common good.

6. Too many cooks spoil the broth?
There's just the one hole down there- How would having 5 or 6 companies working on top of each other possibly help? Maybe they could stage undersea ROV battles to see who gets access to try their ideas?

8. What Would Other Oil Companies be Doing?
It BP lacked a certain piece of equipment, for example, I'm sure it would be made available.

Likewise with ideas: BP has plenty of people with the right skills. Doubling the size of the team would probably make it less efficient.

Equipment and manpower do not appear to be the issue.
