Lay Off Obama...Says Sir Paul McCartney!!!
Edited on Thu Jun-03-10 07:41 AM by samplegirl

“I’m a big fan, he’s a great guy. So lay off him, he’s doing great,” McCartney said, to a roomful of journalists.

McCartney, 67, is this year’s recipient of the Library of Congress’s Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. He will perform Wednesday evening at a White House tribute concert honoring his work.

The Gershwin prize was created in 2007 to “honor artists whose creative output transcends distinctions between musical styles and idioms, bringing diverse listeners together, and fostering mutual understanding and appreciation,” according to a Library statement.

It commemorates George and Ira Gershwin, the American songwriting team whose extensive manuscript collections reside in the Library of Congress. Past recipients include Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder.

Sir Paul is also being honored for his global humanitarianism and activism. But as for Obama. Got a problem with him? Let it be.

2. It is never easy watching someone you repect be given such a nighmarish task of stemming the tide
of the Bush administration.

Over the holiday weekend I spoke with a women who has seen so much ravage from the Great depression on, and we had to shake our heads in saddness in coming to the realization that President Obama was having to deal with some pretty intense sabatoge.... That it was no longer a given that those in Washington did not have our Countries best interest in mind.... I believe that this is why much good will is still offered to our President.

Although I believe another song for the President would be in order. Something with a bit more resolve....

7. Who? Oh yeah 'Sir Paul' ...
He had a hair band or three back in the 1970s right?

Sort of in the same style as that guy in the Beatles who was killed in a car accident.

10. McCartney's dig at Bush
"Later, McCartney ended the night by saying, in reference to the prize from the Library of Congress, it was good that after the last eight years, America had a president who knew what a library was."
