Head's up if you buy Tracfone airtime online |
|
This is a cautionary PSA. I don't usually purchase my Tracfone airtime via their website, however over the last year I have done so twice using 2 different credit cards. Within a few months I had fraudulent charges on both cards. It's possibly just a coincidence, but I thought I'd pass the info along.
When I eventually got through to their Customer Service Dept. in India to suggest that they conduct an internal review, they informed me that they don't save customer info on their site even though they offer the option of setting up a customer account (huh???). I suggested that their encryption might be lacking or that frankly something might be amiss "in house" & asked that they looked into it. They kept reading to me from a prepared script.
So...although I'm happy with the service, I won't be using my card online with them in future. Just wanted to pass the info along. As I say, it could be just a coincidence, but better safe than sorry.

2. Thanks for the warning. |
|
Haven't had any trouble like that myself, but caution is always sensible.
Are you able to use promo codes when you order your minutes over the phone? I've never tried...

6. You might want to run AntiMalware from MalwareBytes.org. |
|
That sounds like a keystroke logger might be on your system. They're nasty. Download the free version of AntiMalware and run the quick scan. Be sure to check the box that tells it to update its signature file (what it uses to look for nasty-ware).
