What does Bing offer that Google does not?
Why should I pick a new search engine over the tried and true Google? What added value does it bring?

1. Why are you thinking of switching?
I think google results beat anyone else's and I love the simple interface.

14. Just keeping an open mind.
If something new is better, then I'll use it.

But I really don't see much value in having multiple search engines out there.

2. none that I can find
I tried Bing a couple of times, can't stand it. Google does everything I need a search engine to do.

I've heard Bing is better for commercial searching, i.e. if you're shopping for something. I don't know, I don't do that sort of searching much.

5. I have found it to be far less comprehensive...
but seems to have nice graphics on its home page... if that matters to anyone.

Google has lots of secondary search engines, like Google Scholar, etc. So, if I am doing general searching (rather than more targeted medical or technical academic searches)I really can't say why you'd not use Google.

For everything else, there's Google - but I have to say Bing has got this one part down perfectly

A legendary crooner who shares the name?

Apparently MS thinks Bing's big thing is that it tells vampires where to have dinner. Personally, I like to peruse the links and make my own decision, but I guess there's room for a search Engine that picks restaurants for you...

22. Bing maps is good but the search engine ... meh.
I actually forced myself to use bing first for about a week.

Wanted to see if I like google just because I am use it and not because of the actual results.

Nope. google has far superior results. Even giving bing "first chance" google still wins.

I welcome the alternatives. Over the last few years it's been very hard to search for time-sensitive information, but if I want encyclopedic-type information, Google is very nice.

29. Tweedle-dum, tweedle-dee
My business is creating web content, and incorporating SEO subtly into that content. So I spend a lot of time checking search engine results. What works for Google works for Bing. More people use Google, so all of my SEO efforts go toward Google results. Essentially, the results on Bing are virtually identical.

Use whichever one you prefer. There's precious little difference in most searches.

I prefer search engines to be simple and not use an awful algorithm to figure out what I'm looking for. It's also pretty easy to refine your search to filter out the junk.

that takes far too long to load.

I tried it for a week, and went back to Google.

I used to use Yahoo years ago, but Google gets me what I need, fast.
