Quick-thinking Methuen mom halts runaway school bus

When a mother from Methuen saw an empty bus rolling near a school, she reacted quickly.

“I didn’t think twice,” said Lorie Aliano, a mother of two. “I just ran onto the bus.”

After jumping into the vehicle, Aliano slammed on the brakes before anyone could get hurt. School officials credit her heroic actions with averting a possible calamity.

“I jumped onto the bus, put my hands {on the wheel}, and I said, ‘I gotta stop this bus somehow,’ ” Aliano said in an interview today, noting that she has never driven a bus before. “I put both my feet on the brakes, and it was really hard, but thank God it stopped before anyone got hurt.”

I can't believe it...2 people (other than myself) who actually know of The Big Bus! And not only know of it....they like it!! I thought I was a complete loner on this one.
