Chairman McDermott Announces Hearing on Responding to Long-Term Unemployment
Below is a repost from the economy forum. Someone had suggested that it should be placed here for greater exposure. I hope this is acceptable. If not, I apologise.

June 3, 2010

Congressman Jim McDermott (D-WA), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support of the Committee on Ways and Means, today announced that the Subcommittee will hold a hearing on possible policy responses to long-term unemployment. The hearing will take place on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. in B-318 Rayburn House Office Building.

In view of the limited time available to hear witnesses, oral testimony at this hearing will be from invited witnesses only. However, any individual or organization not scheduled to appear may submit a written statement for consideration by the Subcommittee and for inclusion in the record of the hearing

For those of you who care to, this is your chance to be heard. Apparently there are very specific guidelines to writing your letters or they'll be rejected, so please read carefully. Michael Thorton of the Rochester Unemployment Examiner gives a very thorough rundown on what needs to be in your letter here:
