Mom just told me she is refusing to support Obama after voting him in
Two reasons: the BP mess and Israel.

Isn't 54%+ of our taxes enough for our military to kill and maim with?

12. Has she seen any of Carol Browner's appearances?
I think they were proactive on the relieve wells, requiring two being drilled simultaneously. They were proactive in being involved in the brainstorming on possible short term measures. He also is looking at what can be done proactively to prevent a reoccurance in the future where it would take 3 months to respond and has a moratorium on deep water drilling.

Where they fell down was on two issues.

1) Communication. Obama should have early on laid out the bad news, letting people know it was a big oil leak and it could well continue until August. Then he could speak of the people working on short term solutions. Then he could speak of what he is doing to protect the shores and clean up.

2) While I think they now have far more resources out in the Gulf trying to collect or eliminate the oil, they should have involved the states - if only to coopt their Governors.

On the flotilla, I think Biden's early statement was awful. I think that we should have traded our UN support for them agreeing to a greatly truncated list of what they would keep out and a commitment to smoothly moving stuff in. Reducing the blockade to something like a careful customs process to catch weapons.

16. Sure she does. That's what she's been seeing on her TV
I see a lot of people go on about how "stupid" the GOP are, but when you see a disaster such as this, brought about by their overt lack of oversight and "drill baby drill" mentality, be spun around to be solely the fault -- note I said fault not responsibility -- of the current Democratic president ...and have people believing it. No, not just believing it spreading it for you. That's not "stupid" that's a well oiled political machine working the groove on an election year.

Meanwhile, Americans sit back turn on their TV and have another slice of propaganda pie.

There are issues to be upset about with this administration. Obama not being able to plug the hole and evaporate the oil from the water are not two of them. Despite what the RW would want you to believe.

33. is SHE pro-active?
does she live as 'green' as possible? Consume sparingly? The lust for oil, and our unchecked consumerism is what makes deep-water drilling for oil happen.

Without the market, especially the market that exists in the US, there wouldn't have been this disaster.

Until we face that inconvenient, uncomfortable, life-altering reality, we can expect more and more troubles. And the whole earth suffers because of that.

By your logic; if a person is angry at a DEMOCRATIC politician for acting like a REPUBLICAN, then they must *really* want a republican in office.

OK then.

37. Evidently, that's exactly what we deserve.
When I see how the Iranians hit the streets after the last election, I'm convinced they understand more than we do. The U.S. is simply full of complacent, lazy, and ignorant fools and they have the overhand currently. It goes against my grain to not vote and I held my nose in 2008, because it was important for me to keep Palin out of D.C. I never for once believed that Obama would bring about real change. This time around, though, I could very well go third party. Maybe, when we've suffered enough, we'll get it right. The status quo makes me want to puke.
