After more than 6 years, I'm going to take a bit of a posting break.

I think it's time for a little passivity here, whilst everything gets sorted out a bit. I shall enjoy reading this site but not writing to it for a short time. Quite frankly, I'm emotionally exhausted.

I certainly can see why you'd find somethings draining of late. Your dad had some wisdom that I'm only accepting now on at least one subject you mentioned earlier. That is unlikely to change and all I can advise is to stand up for what you believe is right and never let people make you jaded on your overall ideals because those you almost always agree with show their ugly side (and as a result the perceive ugly in you).

I figure this visceral hatred that blooms so easily and always boils below the surface has some roots maybe prior to history and is damn near genetic rather than exactly ideology.

It is what it is but we can hope to work for the greater good that hopefully will allow for a more unified humanity that doesn't hunt for that "other" that will loosen the grip of whatever that nasty little seed is.

13. I've been in read-not-post mode for awhile, now.

You still get pissed, but it does help to stay in touch & informed while conserving some of the batteries. I haven't had the ability to contend w/DU lately, but it's been my homepage for too many years to give up. I just step back & recharge for awhile, then back into the fray!
