Newt Gingrich's still trying to make a buck! |
|
I was sitting in a lawyer's office yesterday when he got a phone call. A woman came on and said he'd been chosen to represent 'small business' on an important panel of advisers to Newt. She said she had a message from Newt for him to listen to and then she would be back on the line. The attorney had the speaker phone on and I knew what was coming.
The pre-recorded message from Newt blasted the Obama administration, health care reform, socialism, etc. and promised that as a member of Newt's small business panel he would be attending important sessions and have 'access' to 'let Washington know how you're providing job opportunities and solutions for the country'.
The attorney waited and the lady came back on the phone and asked if he had any questions. He asked how much being on the panel paid. She was immediately flustered and said it was a volunteer position. She then went back to her script and stated that a small contribution of $500 would allow the attorney to assume a place on this 'all-important panel to end Obama's socialism'.
My lawyer stated he wouldn't be contributing any amount of money to Newt Gingrich.
Isn't this the same tactic Bush used? To call and tell somebody they had gotten some type of honor and then ask to be paid for it?

1. I think this is a tactic all parties use constantly - just not usually quite this crudely |
