How on Earth has Haliburton been able to escape the fall out from the oil leak?
Everyone has been to a justifiable extent attacking BP for the Gulf oil leak, but they were simply the tenants of the destroyed oil rig?

The "landlord" and the villain who did the "plumbing" are getting away with the crime.

3. Good question
When this happened I really thought there would be at least some focus on TransOcean and Halliburton.

I guess there's a couple of ways to look at it. Tenants can rent a place and really make a mess of it. Or the place they rented was already in need of repair and the tenants are getting blamed for the fire in the faulty wiring.

I kind of lean towards a combination of the two. There's plenty of blame to go around. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that each one of those corporations did their best to cut corners and circumvent regulations.

We shall see what comes out of the investigations, which sadly will go on for years.

4. I think Haliburton and TransOcean
are at least equally as guilty and they have so far had unbelievable political luck.

5. Cheney made a deal with Satan...
in exchange for Halliburton getting away with it, Cheney won't take over Hell when he dies.

6. Take a look at Haliburton and Tansocean's stocks.
Compare RIG, HAL, BP stock charts since the explosion.

9. Wow I just have.
Thanks.

Pretty sad when you consider that for every £6 paid out as a pension fund in the UK BP is responsible for £1.

11. I suppose it's been the major push against BP.
Is there a term for "scapegoat" when the scapegoat is also guilty as hell?

12. Same way it's all about Cheney now, you rarely hear the name Bush.
Unless it's a piece building up Jeb.

Eventually the corporate media and Texas school books will simply state Gore was president the whole time...

people.

18. Deep(est) pockets - BP's are the deepest.
So, BP is blamed for the gulf gusher. Transocean, Halliburton, and the others will probably be named in the lawsuits (lawyers are endlessly thorough), but the only company to be publicly blamed in the media will be the one that didn't spend enough to bribe the media. I do not have any sort of cite, but you can bet that the companies complicit in this disaster have paid off the media and politicians - remember the only ironclad rule of politics is "The politician who is bought stays bought".

I'm really sick of being in what the Chinese curse calls 'interesting times'.

I lived in Pensacola for 15 years, my kids grew up going to the sugar-white, crystal-clear water beaches. Their kids will never be able to do the same. I am so angry and depressed by this catastrophe that I have to ignore the TV. I hate having to do that.

FTW.

20. I hear you,
Memories of a beach in Massachusetts when I was a kid, tide pools, hermit crabs, star fish,
keep coming to me.

To realize that what you experienced will never be the same, the waters never will be as clean, the sea life as abundant, is heartbreaking beyond description.

22. Halliburton has bought protection ...
... and very few people (outside the industry) had heard of Transocean ...
and only one has the word "British" in the name to make it easy for the
media to drive the mindless into a lather ...

Halliburton f*cked up the cement (again) - free pass.
Transocean f*cked up the operation (again) - free pass.
BP f*cked up the management (again) - SUE THE BASTARDS!
