Curious as to what regulations for offshore drilling in the UK are like. |
|
Does anyone know if they are laxer or more stringent than here? How would their laws deal with such an event as we are experiencing now? Do we have any experts in this area?

1. And what is their regulatory and inspection process like? |

How cozy are the regulators with the regulated? It would be interesting to know.

2. I think you may find they're actually EU rules |

but not withstanding that the UK has got all powerful Health and Safety regs which cover most things. The H & S outfit would automatically have become involved as soon as the deaths occurred.
I've no idea about offshore regs here in the UK other than ref here on DU to the fact we seem to have a requirement for the blowout gismo and the USA doesn't have that requirement.
edit to add : Norway isn't EU and may have it's own rules.

3. I think EU requires a relief well to be drilled before real drilling starts to avoid this problem |
